Lightning-Fast Fiber Optic is Being Installed at French Broad Crossing
It may be a nature preserve in the middle of North Carolina’s coveted Blue Ridge Mountains, but French Broad Crossing (FBC) is giving families the same high-speed fiber optic connectivity as residents living in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina. Thanks to the cooperative, French Broad Electric, and Jack Fisher, Founder and Developer of Preserve Communities, the community is having a fiber optic line installed that will give residents Internet-TV-Phone Service that’s as fast as any in the state. In fact, FBC will be one of the very few master-planned communities in the Western North Carolina Mountains with fiber optic service.
“We’re running separate lines from a central hub to the individual homes which connect to a main source in Atlanta. So we’re talking quick, speed-of-light service and performance—the same as you’d get in Charlotte or any larger city in North Carolina. Faster than most, actually. And to get that kind of connectivity up here is rare.”
– Jeff Loven, French Broad Electric
One of the best things about Preserve Communities—which includes French Broad Crossing and The Preserve at Little Pine—is that they combine the privacy, solitude and natural beauty of true conservation communities, with the amenities, comforts, and conveniences you’re accustomed to in an urban area. Add to that the fact that Asheville is just minutes away, and you truly have the best of both worlds. “Families here love this land and the preservation aspect of both communities,” says Fisher. “They like being in nature, and the fact that this land will remain as pristine as it is now for generations to come. But they also like conveniences and expect a certain quality of life that we’ve all become accustomed to. French Broad Crossing and Little Pine give you both.”
French Broad Crossing is undergoing the fiber optic installation at this very moment. They should be fully online by October, just in time for leaf season. Little Pine will follow French Broad, as the plans for that are being negotiated now. “The goal is to eventually have high-speed services at both communities,” says Fisher. “French Broad in the coming fall, and we are working on a solution for Little Pine next.”
