Hot Springs (originally called Warm Springs) has been an enchanting natural escape for more than 200 years, attracting travelers to its rejuvenative warm mineral springs. The springs are heated to 100° thanks to a volcanic fault line underground. The all-natural hot springs are free of man-made chemicals, and a great source of sulfate of magnesia (for muscles), sulphate of potassium (for your heart), and chloride of potassium (for the nervous system).
Of course, the town of Hot Springs has a lot more to offer than healing waters. It is also the only town that sits directly on the Appalachian trail: it runs along Main Street. It becomes quite active with through-hikers, especially in the spring. There are also a number of quaint restaurants, inns, cafes, coffee houses, and friendly faces in this charming mountain town, once voted the “Best Small Mountain Town from Georgia to West Virginia.”
